Hurricane Florence Relief. How can you help?
September 27, 2018

Want to help with Hurricane Florence relief efforts but not quite sure where to start?

We Wilm Rebuild:

We Wilm Rebuild is a grassroots, UNCW student run program started in the wake of Florence. Their collection drives have popped up all over the state. Check out their new website, donated by a website designer in Greensboro or follow their instagram @wewilmrebuild to stay up to date on relief efforts.

Go Fund Me

"On September 14, Hurricane Florence made landfall with heavy winds and torrential rains. More than 30 people have died, more than 20,000 have been displaced and hundreds of thousands of others are without power. GoFundMe is working with state and local officials to ensure that the money raised on GoFundMe will get to those who need it most. Our giving community always steps up in times of need, and we are here to make sure their generosity is protected."

Low on Funds? The American Red Cross is the perfect option!

"The Red Cross encourages eligible donors in parts of the country unaffected by the storm to give blood or platelets to help ensure a sufficient blood supply. Platelet and type O positive blood donations are critically needed right now.

The Red Cross must collect 13,000 blood donations each day, to ensure patient needs are met at approximately 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country. Appointments can be made by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767)."

Don't forget the animals!

American Humane:

"Before Hurricane Florence hit the east coast, the American Humane Rescue Team had already jumped into action evacuating shelter cats in the path of the approaching storm and transporting them nearly 800 miles to safe, dry ground. When the storm made landfall, our team mobilized again, sending two emergency rescue vehicles loaded with boats, medical supplies, and tactical rescue equipment to North Carolina."
